Thursday February 22nd Announcements

2018 Tattletales Coin Campaign begins Monday, Feb 26. OPA is once again participating in the Tattletales Coin Campaign. Students are invited to bring pocket change to school everyday next week, which will be used to buy new books at Tattletales, and independent bookstore located in Dartmouth. While we're busy collecting nickels, dimes, and quarters, Tattletales is lining up corporate sponsors to top up whatever is raised by our school community.

Funds from the 2017 Scholastic book fair and Tattletales campaign made it possible to add new, interesting, and current high quality books to the library. The new material has made an incredible difference to our students.

Primary registration packages are now available in the main office.

Yearbooks are available for $25 but only until Feb 28th.

Prince Andrew will be having an information session about International Baccalaureate on Feb. 21 from 5:30-6:30 in the Prince Andrew High School library. For more information about the program you can visit the following link below and/or contact Tracy Griffin, IB coordinator.

Early Development Instrument:  English and French Immersion program teachers in the following families of schools (Dartmouth, JL Ilsley, Halifax West, Eastern Shore, and Citadel) are completing an Early Development Instrument (EDI) for each Primary student in their class during February, March or early April.  This work contributes to a partnership between the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development, school boards and McMaster University.  Primary teachers will have time to complete questionnaires on the developmental health of their students.  The resulting reports provide an important insight into children’s early developmental experiences and how best to support and enhance them – we know that they have a lasting and long term impact on education, behaviour and health outcomes. For more information please contact your child’s principal and/or go to: https://www.hrsb.ca/about-our-schools/parents/early-development-instrument

Tis the season for "Lost & Found"  Please check the table in the main lobby of the school.
